The "Electric Frog"

Enjoy comfortable, silent, trouble-free cruising in this 17'4" custom luxury electric guest and pleasure boat. This is the perfect boat for entertaining, fishing, local cruising, and just enjoying a sunny day.

The boat was fully rebuilt and re-launched the spring of 2010. The engine and batteries were new at that time. It has been kept under cover and was used on about 20 occasions in the past two years, only on Lake Washington. Total engine hours: about 50-60. It has been nicely maintained and is like new.

Power is provided by a Torquedo Cruise 4.0 electric motor. (Torquedo is a highly-respected German manufacturer.) The motor delivers approximately 9 HP and is the most powerful of its kind on the market. The motor is mounted in a hidden well. It drives the boat at a maximum speed of 6 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 5 knots.

At the maximum speed of 6 knots, cruising time is 2 hours. But at a 5 knot cruising speed the boat will run comfortably for about 10 hours. These times include a battery reserve. And even slight reductions in speed below 5 knots yield yet further greatly increased cruising time and range so the average range in a typical trip is often quite a bit longer.

The Torquedo remote engine control includes GPS-guided speed and range readouts as well as a battery life indicator for easily tracking energy consumption and remaining range.

Power is supplied by 16 six-volt 225 amp hour (AH) T105-Plus Trojan batteries arranged in two 8-battery banks which provide 450 AH and 48 volts DC. These are the standard batteries used in the electric boat industry and they are nearly new. Boat also includes a 15 amp battery charger which permits fast recharging and which uses 115 volts conveniently available both at home and at most marinas. Charger will also provide a slow "trickle" charge for battery maintenance over time.

This vessel also comes equipped with a full bimini, full cockpit upholstery, unused porta-potti, spare propeller, bow pulpit, heavy-duty vinyl partial cockpit cover, and other extras. It has a remote steering system and an easily removable external rudder for safe trailering.

The aft cabin is also suitable for installation of two full-length overnight berths. There is substantial storage forward, beneath and behind the seats, and in the aft cabin.
