| 1985 Hatteras sport-fish 458 LOA 50 that weighs 46,000 pounds with only 1400 original hours. I purchased this boat from the original owner who had it completely custom built for himself. There were so many upgrades that were put into this boat when building it in 1985 that you would think it was built in the 2000s definitely way ahead of it's time The boat spent its whole life at the Golden Nugget - Trump plaza in Atlantic city. This boat never did ANY offshore fishing only in the bay, fluke and flounder fishing unbelievable . Since I purchased it I did a lot more upgrades,like- new interior, carpets, teak flooring, upholstery on the bridge and in the cabin, full canvas enclosure. This boat has 2 Garmin GPSs, 2 Furuno GPS - Radars one 72 mile and another 24 mile, 4 VHFs, 3 depth finders, wind indicator, water temperature, New fusion radio on Bridge with new speakers, 3800 just in VHF antennas. The bridge on this boat is completely custom you will never see another one like this. I have never seen one and I have been in the marine business for 37 years. H and H towers designed the bridge back when they purchased the boat in 1985 and its unbelievable. Completely fiberglass molded in gauges, courtesy lights all over... the ceiling the floor the console you truly need to see. So while they were customizing the boat they made a built-in freezer on the port side of the boat to hold flats of bait and cans of chum. And a fishing station on the starboard side with controls and gauges to back down the boat when fishing. Also they made a really nice custom sliding door to enter the cabin and also a custom screen door when main cabin door is open. You will see in photos When you enter the cabin you will notice a full custom entertainment center that was also designed at the factory, along with a bar that is located on the starboard side. The owners also requested to delete the front windshield when the boat was being built. Down in the engine room you will find 2-6V92s fresh water cooled Detroit diesel engines 550 H.P each. I have gone completely through both of these engines. I changed all coolant hoses, fuel hoses, intake hoses, four new thermostats, two raw water pumps complete, two brand new circulator pumps, all new Rotella antifreeze, all fluids have just been changed. Oil and oil filters, transmission fluid and filters, all fuel filters, also the generator has just been serviced completely. The prop shafts have been removed and I installed all new shaft logs with packing. Props have just been reconditioned along and the bottom has been freshly painted with all new zincs. The boat also has a brand new smart battery charger along with a power transformer for the electric. This transformer will make sure that you have the proper voltage coming into the boat at all time so you will not burn out any compressors. The boat hull bridge also has been freshly painted with awlgrip and all new stripes have been painted with Emron. The list truly goes on and on with all of the improvements that have been done to the boat,it is seriously ready to go fishing. The boat cruises comfortably at 1400 rpms approximately 21 miles an hour. I never run the boat past 1800 RPMs and either did the original owners. The engines run awesome and there are no coolant, oil leaks or fuel leaks anywhere in the boat. The entire bilge was just freshly painted everywhere....along with both engines freshly painted. Then of course all new hoses and fuel lines were installed. I could probably keep going but Im going to save some questions for you. | This classic yacht needs an interior refit including all new electronics. However the engines, replaced in 1987 are in excellent condition having been rebuilt in 2013 and have had constant maintenance and up grades since with just 30 hours (approximate) since the rebuild. She's also been converted from 32V to all 12V system. Well over $50,000 has been spent since 2019. Please see full specifications for details on engine and electrical work.
The exterior of the vessel is in good condition, a good buff and wax will restore her hull nicely. She'll need new bottom paint as well.
The interior will need some fairly extensive restoration including a new galley stove. The staterooms are in generally good condition as is the main salon. All three staterooms have new mattresses in addition to all new exterior cushions and two new helm seats on the bridge deck, the 4 air conditioning units have been serviced - repaired as necessary and are in good condition. There is some relatively minor water stains on the woodwork through out and cracks in windows around the inside controls. Some time and money well spent will produce a fine, classic yacht. The most expensive work, engine and electrical system, has already been done. The good news is that here on Roatan there are qualified craftsmen available at rates significantly lower than the North America and Europe.
With the exception of the new VHF radio, the electronics are old - not working and will need to be replaced.
While you can take this vessel anywhere, she's right at home here on Roatan with excellent cruising grounds, dozens of anchorages and 3 nearby islands set amidst the second largest barrier reef in the world. She will work as well as a mobile condo for far less than you would pay for one ashore.
