| Thinking of selling my 1989 Checkmate Starfire with a 350/260 h.p. Mercruiser V8 with Alpha 1 out drive. This boat has very low hours and has only been used in Michigan fresh water it's whole life. It has been shrink wrap stored in the winters.
Details are as follows:
Boat is teal (aqua green) and white
Has matching single axle trailer
Has 2 stainless steel propellers (1 Mercury Cleaver & 1 Quicksilver Mirage)
All upholstery has been redone in 2007 except for captains and passenger chairs which are in great shape (this includes engine hatch, rear seat, filler panels, rear frame and all marine plywood new)
Stereo system is new and features 2 Sony 6 1/2 coaxial speakers (under bow), 2 Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2 Marine Components (with separate tweeters, mounted below rear seat), one Kenwood 800 watt 4 channel amplifier and I-pod/mp3 wired interface. I don't like radios in a boat like this due to water damage and cd skipping, I simply use my I-pod at all times. There is a spot in the dash with a flip up/waterproof tinted housing for a radio should you want to add one.

Boat is kept behind my house on the lake, it is not trailered.
This boat is in great shape, it has been meticulously maintained and includes everything needed to take it out on the lake (pole light, new fire extinguisher, etc.). I don't see any cracks in the fiberglass, stringers or gel-coat anywhere. Whats more important is that everything on the boat works. Boat has minor scratches and abrasions on the hull from docking but it's nothing that can't be totally repaired with light sanding and a buffing wheel. Boat does not leak 1 drop of water. I have the boat proped for coming out of the hole right now as I have gotten into water sports. I believe the current prop is a 23p, even with this prop the boat shoots out of the hole and runs a consistent 64 mph all day long. On my lake this boat is one of the fastest beating many other more expensive boats with big block power. The fuel economy is very good as I have not increased the carburetor size at all. If someone wanted to go faster they could increase the pitch of the prop. I have used this boat on the lake I live on as well as large lakes in northern Michigan; it is a great all around boat that can take on any type of water within reason.
I am selling this boat because I have gotten heavy into watersports over last summer and would like to buy a ski/wakeboard boat. Let me know if you are interested. I would like to try for $5,000 for the boat but will consider offers. Feel free to contact me hondacb4@aol.com.
