| Welcome aboard "Starlight Express"a original owner, freshwater yacht. She is a highly customized Viking 57 Motor Yacht that has had a cockpit added to extend her length to 66', but her overall length including the swim platform is 72' 6". In addition to her well engineered and professionally installed cockpit, the owner removed the old school GM 8V-92(735hp) TA's and replaced them with state of the art MAN V-12 D2842LE406's rated at 1,200 hp each. When the cockpit was constructed additional tankage was added to extend the tankage on board from 750 to 1,300 gals. So, we now have a boat that will cruise effortlessly at 20 knots (instead of 15) and a boat with some real range. The owner spent 675K on the engines and new drive line and an additional 180K on the cockpit design, construction and installation. This is an opportunity to get a mechanically superior yacht with an amazing portfolio of equipment upgrades at a remarkably low price.
This yacht was barrier coated in the fall of '08-winter of '09...8 coats of Interlux InterProtect were applied and of course there are records for same. Her bottom is gorgeous. Accommodations and layout are a standard (if you could ever consider the Viking 57 a standard anything) 4 stateroom layout with 3 heads. The master is aft and is accessed from a private staircase that also provides access to the laundry area and walk-in engine room. The other three staterooms are forward and accesed from a staircase forward of the pilothouse. Two guest staterooms are forward, port and starb'd and there is a VIP stateroom portside that features a walk-around double bed with ensuite head. These staterooms are quite roomy and feature plenty of storage areas for extended cruising. On the main deck is the HUGE salon with a very large wrap around sofa, swivel chair, large LCD TV, abundant storage areas and a beautiful wet bar that is adjacent to the sliding doors out to the covered aft deck area. The galley is abaft the pilothouse and features full size house hold type appliances and very nice storage areas. There is also a dinette that will seat four. The pilothouse is forward for visibility, and sightlines both for cruising and handling the boat around the dock are excellent. Electronics at both the pilothouse and bridge have been updated over the years to remain current provide everything necessary to cruise in safety and comfort. Port and starb'd pilothouse doors make going forward easy to aid in docking or anchoring chores. Regarding docking, the boat features a HYDRAULIC bow thruster and the steering has been upgraded to power steering...enabling finger tip control at any speed...truely remarkable. The foredeck equipment is equally robust and will provide excellent holding in almost any conditions. The bridge is accessed from indoors for safety and will astound those who haven't been up on the 57's. Seating is abundant and so is storage. A complete wet bar with refrigeration and storage makes going down below unneccessary. A large dinette up on the bridge makes "al fresco" dining a great evening event. The boat deck is large and spacious and features a Marquipt hydraulic low profile davit system.
