| 2000 Fountain 27 Fever is powered by a single 502 Mercruiser engine that has been worked out to 540 cubic inches with a 9:1 compression ratio and a pro charger. The boost is 3-5 PSI with a 4.75x 12 rib pulley and the prop is a 4 blades stainless steel 28 pitch that pushes out 850 HP reaching speeds up to 88 mph. Everything on this boat is in perfect condition and has been properly pampered and maintained. All Engine work was performed by Hood Performance in West Plains, Missouri. Work done includes flat head pistons, gapless rings, aluminum heads, performance valves, solid crank shaft, and roller bearing camshaft all necessary to reach top speeds. The fuel rail was reworked to a 50# by Arizona speed. Imco exhaust manifolds were installed along with a new Mercruiser Bravo XR racing outdrive with shower cooler system.
If you desire to go even faster change to a smaller diameter pulley and get to 7-9 Psi and change the prop to a 32 pitch and you can reach speeds in the triple digits.
This Fountain 27 Fever has 365 hours, and only 60 hours on the current power plant and outdrive. It was bought brand new in 2002 and has been pampered and maintained like no other. This low hour Fountain 27 Fever is in showroom condition, and also comes equipped with a tandem axel trailer. As for the interior,there are no rips or tears of any sort and the graphics look as good as the day it was purchased if not better. Too many extras to list. This boat is turn key ready. Brand new batteries and fresh plugs done this summer. Impellor changed out after every season as with all fluids. Trailer just had bearings done as well. Kept in closed storage and covered year round. Definite head turner and hate to sell. Ready for a twin motor now. I have many more pictures to show. | I'm second generation fountain fever owner. my dad and brother both had fevers and i grew up on them learning the ends and outs. this fever has been maticulously maintained and serviced annually. serviced 4-25-2013 and had silent choice replaced with new updated system. Always stored indoors and only freshwater. Have Reggie fountains test record for the boat which is pretty cool. Have been around a lot of boats and fountains by far my favorite and George Bush SR's favorite too, so I heard. Mostly used in havasu,AZ.
The 27 Fever was designed to open the door to the first time high performance boat buyer, by keeping the high performance boat building standards on a 27-foot hull. Fountain has newly designed the Fever so the novice boater can get his feet wet in the race boat market without drowning in the cost.
The 27 Fever shot out of the hole at a quick 6.7 seconds and reached 30 mile per hour in 9.9 seconds. Shes just what you would except from a small race boat. She handled the tight turns like an agile cat and reached a top speed of 72 miles per hour, with a best cruise speed of 35.8 miles per hour, and sipped on the fuel in doing so. When it comes to rough water the 27 Fever can hold its own in a moderate chop, but she was not designed for open ocean action as big waves would slow her down quite a bit.
When standing or sitting at the helm the 27 Fever newly designed wraparound windshield allows for good 360% visibility thus creating a very high comfort zone when handling this boat. The drivers seat combined with the controls, steering wheel and instrumentation cluster seemed a bit tight, but remember this is a race boat design so everything is close for quick and easy access. The rest of the cockpit layout is very comfortable, with a three person bench seat just in front of a large sun pad which happens to be the engine hatch. Theres a swim platform with a collapsible swim ladder for those who want to take a dip and cool off.
The gunwales are nice and high and slope aft, making it easy to get in and out of this boat. The features list is comparable to that of the bigger Fountains. The forward cabin has a leather interior with a wraparound sofa, V-berth with cushion and ultra suede pillows, and a privacy curtain. Theres also a porta-potti below, making day trips much more pleasurable for everyone.
