| 1974 Donzi X-18. All original gelcoat, still in very good conditions, aside from some minor cosmetic issues. Still looks great for its age. Floor was replaced and is strong. Been in the family for close to 30 years, I purchased it from my uncle roughly 10 years ago. Sat in storage for close to 10 years prior to my purchasing it. Newer seats - tunnel cover, thunderbold 5 ignition, aluminum imco thunderbolt exhaust manifolds, stainless imco (4)tips. 350 chevrolet corvet engine, and volvo 280 outdrive (rebuilt within the last 5 years). Tested engine a couple years ago, still had very good compression but unable to remember the exact numbers. Did high 50s in its hayday, probably around 50 now. Could probably hit the high 50s again if thats your thing, I just love to cruise. Spent the first few summers with some minor issues, but has been turn-key operating for several years now. Boat is located on Georgian Bay, Ontario Canada parked in Honey Harbor but spends most of its time at the Island. Sorry no trailer. Not in a huge hurry to sell, and not overly motivated, I love this boat, please no lowball offers. But looking to move on........ Asking $9,500. But willing to look at reasonable offers. | She will slice through 6" chop at 85mph and do it so smooth that you can drink cocktails at the same time.
At some time in the past someone painted it from the water line up, this paint is faded out and need to be repainted.
It was always a red boat with white stripe. I also have the org. windsheld it came with, a big $200 extra back in 67.
Hull, deak and stringers are rock solid. If you know about Donzi you will know that 1966-69 boats were the best ever made.
It was a 289 ford with Volvo 270 drive, now has a Volvo 275 that was reworked for a 400hp motor.
Motor was a "new" crate motor from Crusader Marine Engines. I installed Aluminum oil pan, twin remote oil filters, 10qt oil system, Edelbrock Torker II intake manifold, Custom built Holly carb, Nicson aluminum exhaust system, Mallory Comp 9000 distributor, MSD AL6 box, closed cooling system, high speed water pickup with johnson pump, new fuel tank with manuel & electric gauge, new hydraulic steering system.
Motor is out now and needs 200 repair before it can be reinstalled. I had about 20 hours on it before I pulled it to install a bigger cam, after I found one cylinders oil ring failed and since then I have not had the time to fix or use it.
I hope my finances change in the next few days so I can pull this ad, so if you want a "Rare Boat" that you can't find anywhere at any price, call fast before I regain my common sense.. Located in Huntersville North Carolina. |
