Doug Smith, the Founder of Baja, purchased Checkmate Powerboats several years ago.
The 26 Checkmate Convincor is the ultimate extension on the Baja Outlaws. And best of all it is still a hand built, hand layed hull.
As a former Baja Dealer, I had done business with Doug Smith for years, and when I wanted a new Sport Boat, I called Doug...now at Checkmate.
Doug agreed to do this color scheme, which is entirely in the gelcoat...even the Checkmate Logo Horse Head is in the Gel...there is no paint on this one of a kind Checkmate. We then had a Custom Engine Cover made, to complete the Cigarette theme.
I also spent the money to have a custom aluminum trailer fitted to the boat. A new trailer like this one is about $6,000 to $7,000. It had LED lighting, alloy wheels, a spare, and disc brakes on the front axle. I can personally tell you it pulls straight as an arrow at 80 MPH.
The Checkmate with the Custom Gelcoat and color scheme, along with the Custom Interior work, has a list price of $119,000. (the base price of a 2013 Checkmate Convincor with a standard engine is $88,015 sitting in Ohio)

Special Notice. This boat is new and untitled. If you live in Alabama, we have to collect sales tax. The warranty went into effect in late November. A true perfectionist would not worry about these small blemishes. (As a large boat dealer for many years I can tell you that all boats have small blemishes.) This boat has a cockpit larger than typical boats in the 32' range and up due to the huge cockpit space savings provided by the Outboard Motor. The 300HP Optimax motor provides better fuel economy, speed and boat handling than comperable powered stern drives and comes with a 2 year warranty.
This boat is perfect for skiing, wakeboarding (wakeboard tower optional), family boating and all-out performance running with maximum speed in mid 70's.
The build quality and aesthetics of this boat are fantastic. Molded in storage compartments forward and aft provide ample storage. Built-In cooler provides plenty of entertainment support for the weekend.
Custom Stereo will be installed in the next several days.
Maiden test run was done 8 - 28 in the Columbia River. The boat ran fantastic in the Columbia's 2.5' sloppy chop. Good luck to any wakeboard boat keeping up with this boat in calm or rough seas.
